Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement say they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Officers then located numerous other marked cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say initial examinations show the substance was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are currently not aware of any injuries in relation with the incident," they commented.
City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the residents for information.
A senior political figure said the incident made him stunned and needed to be solved rapidly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on online, referring to the death of nine victims by a assailant targeting people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
